Here is the reading/written portion of the WJPS US History Summer Assignment. Your assignment is based on four (4) important themes in American History. The reasons for assigning summer work is to get you acquainted with some of the resources we will be utilizing during the 2012-2013 academic year. The assignments are typical of what will be completed during the school year. They include chapter identifications, guided reading questions, document analysis, and student generated notes (podcasts and outside readings). Please note that you may have to download some of the materials. Most of the information is available in PDF, or .doc format.
Please note that there is/are PowerPoint presentations, corresponding to each chapter. It's a great way to preview each chapter, and/or reinforce what you've learned from the chapter readings. Please note that the presentations are NOT a substitute for reading the chapters.
For reach chapter, you will be responsible for a series of guided reading questions, related to each section of the chapter. Please click here to find out how to do a GRQ (guided reading question) .
If you are not able to get the information, please email me at michael.tesler@wjps.org. Please note that all of the links have been tested, and are functional. It is further noted that some of the files are rather large, and, depending on the speed of your internet connection, may take several minutes to download.
